-----Original Message----- From: < bonejn@comcast.net > To: Boks, Ed < eboks@ani.lacity.org > Creation Date: 10/16 6:04 pm Subject: LAAS Statistics - Sep06 Mr. Ed, I would normally not bother you with this question but Jeff Brill is no longer listed as a contact regarding statistics on the LAAS website and I have no idea who else to ask. Included in the September numbers for cats is a new category not previously used named "Others" referring to cat outcomes. Would you please clarify what the actual outcome for these 4 cats was or better yet, if this category is to be used in future reports... what types of outcomes will you be using for this category? I need to know so the month to month comparisons include these animals. Thank you, Brad Jensen RS Helpr PS. Spotted you a couple times at BF event yesterday and was sorry I couldn't break away from bassets to introduce myself. Maybe another time. ==================================================================== On 16 Oct 2006 at 21:06, Ed Boks wrote: Brad Wish we could have met. Look forward to the next time Others refers to all other animals that are not dogs, cats or rabbits Ed ==================================================================== < bonejn@comcast.net > 10/16/2006 9:37:21 PM >>> Thanks but look at the stats on cats for September. The outcomes reported for cats has changed include "Others" 500 Adoptions 181 NewHope 27 RTO 117 Foster 28 Died 21 DOA 1609 Euth 12 Escaped 5 Stolen 4 OTHERS ** 2390 Intake This category (Others) is not found in the intake and outcome report for dogs however it is found again when you report intake and outcomes for both dogs and cats. Problem is, the total in that report is 6 instead of 4. I suspect the query behind the report may need to be looked at for errors if this was not intentional. -brad PS. Stats and graphs are updated for September now and thanks for helping to ! make this information available. ==================================================================== Ed Boks 10/17/2006 9:00:15 AM Dara, Would you please respond to this inquiry and cc me. thanks, Ed ==================================================================== On 17 Oct 2006 at 14:42, Dara Ball wrote: Brad, Ed asked me to look into the 6 animals showing up in the 'Others' category on the cats and dogs outcome stats for September '06. Rest assured, there is nothing wrong with the queries. The 4 cats and 2 dogs were on the New Hope Alert list for that month but had outcome dates incorrectly posted to the kennel records. Since the New Hope Alert listanimals are in our shelters awaiting adoption or release to one of our adoption partners, that category is not a final outcome and showed up under the generic name of 'Other'. I have asked the kennel supervisors at the shelters where these animalswere housed to update the kennel records appropriately so I can repost the stats as soon as possible. The Dog I/O Report shows none listed with a final outcome of OTHER while the Dog&Cat I/O Report shows 6 Animals listed with a final outcome of OTHER. Regardless, I won't include these 6 animals in the published tables and graphs since their final outcomes did not occur in September and hopefully we will see them count as NewHope Adoptions in the October reports. Thanks for explaining Dara. This helps me know how to handle the category OTHER in future reports should it show up again. Ed, Thanks for asking Dara to help me out. I have one more unrelated question for you though... Have you received any inquiries about the New Hope Program from Dave Price or Denise Haynes recently? Dave Price is Director of the Resource Management Agency for Kern County and Denise Haynes is Division Chief for Animal Control Services.
